Сколько я уже рассматривал подобные проги, сканеры, и то они предлагают купить платную версию, то работают только ограниченный период, а потом нужно все таки купить..

Но какой-то платной версии в Ad-Aware Web Companion я не заметил, это бесплатная утилита, денег не просит, а вот поисковик и домашнюю страницу изменит хочет!

В общем сканеров, которые чистят систему от вирусов, становится все больше. При этом часть сканеров даже хуже чем встроенный виндовский антивирус, вот такие вот дела, я конечно не утверждаю что это так, но мне так кажется..

В общем тут такой косяк случился, даже не знаю в чем причина. В общем скачал Ad-Aware Web Companion с официального сайта, но вот запустить установку у меня что-то не получилось. Сделал перезагрузку — установка запустилась. С чем это связано я конечно не могу понять. В общем вот окно установки какое:


Я нажал Начать установку и все вроде хорошо, но вот подлянка, мне эта прога предлагает изменить домашнюю страницу и поисковик. Но что интересно, что в списке выбираемых нет Google, но там есть вроде как пункт оставить все как есть, это Keep my current settings:


Я выбрал в обоих менюхах этот Keep my current settings, чтобы мне ничего не меняла эта прога и нажал Установить.

Установилось все быстро и без проблем, после чего на рабочем столе вылезло вот такое сообщение в правом нижнем углу:

Вверху этого сообщение есть кнопка-шестеренка, ну я ее нажал и тут было показаны настройки:

Вроде бы ничего особенного, вот только что мне уже нравится, так это то что грамотно сделан интерфейс. Это признак хорошего софта, хотя об этом разумеется что еще рано говорить.

Когда я нажал крестик по этому сообщению, то стало ясно, что программа будет сидеть в трее:


Вот что очень необычно, то знаете что? Вот я писал о сообщении этом, ну что появилось после установки, ну так вот, оказывается что это и есть весь интерфейс Ad-Aware Web Companion! То есть даже когда я попробовал открыть Web Companion при помощи меню трея, выбравши в нем вот этот пункт:


То все равно появилось вот это окно:

То есть это действительно просто дополнение к антивирусу и не более чем.

Ах вот в чем дело, это просто я невнимательный! Если посмотреть в это сообщение, то все станет ясно, а ведь там и перечислен весь функционал! Ad-Aware Web Companion следит за тем, какие сайты вы посещаете и если сайт опасный и может навредить вашему компу, то вы об этом будете предупреждены или она сайт заблокирует.. Также программа помогает избежать несекционного изменения домашней страницы или поисковика, в общем стало все понятно теперь

В настройках кстати вы можете отключить автозапуск вместе с виндой, просто снимите эту галочку:


На всякий случай напомню, что в настройки Ad-Aware Web Companion попасть можно, если нажать вот на эту кнопочку:

Хотя настроек тут то и почти нет, но другого места, где они могут быть, я не нашел…

Работает программа под процессом LavasoftTcpService.exe:


Запускается вот из этой папки:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Lavasoft\Web Companion\TcpService\2.3.4.7


Хотя, потом я также заметил что прога работает и под процессом Lavasoft.WCAssistant.WinService.exe:


Который запускается вот из этой папки (в эту папку как я понял и ставится прога):

C:\Program Files (x86)\Lavasoft\Web Companion\Application


В общем вот такие дела. Вот видите, тут в имении процессов встречается имя TCP? Это протокол передачи данных, то есть скорее всего Ad-Aware Web Companion прочесывает полностью весь трафик, то есть весь интернет который идет к вам, это все для обнаружения опасного сайта. То есть программа работает на уровне протокола TCP, это говорит только о серьезном подходе к работе.

И еще мне кажется, что у этой проги есть служба или даже две. Я взял и проверил, открыл диспетчер задач, там на вкладке Службы нажал кнопку с таким же именем Службы и в списке стал искать. Ну и да, я был прав, я нашел службу LavasoftTcpService:


В общем нажав по ней два раза мышкой, я открыл окно свойств служб, вот что там написано:

Если нужно эту службу выключить, ну мало ли, то вот как это сделать — выбираете в Тип запуска: Отключена, потом нажимаете кнопку Остановить. Вроде бы больше служб от Lavasoft нет, в любом случае я не нашел

Как программа работает я честно говоря не знаю. Ну то есть я понимаю что она должна или блокировать вредоносные сайты или хотя бы предупреждать, но вот я зашел на один вроде как опасный и ничего мне Ad-Aware Web Companion не сообщила. В то время как Google Chrome вот что выкатил:


Кстати в данном случай на сайте действительно есть (или может быть уже удалили) нежелательное ПО, это .

Так что вот такие дела, вроде как Хром получается лучше блокирует опасные сайты…

Итак, какой можно сделать вывод. Я вот напишу это в виде списка.

  • Ad-Aware Web Companion никак не грузит комп, работает без глюков, но правда я так и не смог увидеть на примере как она блокирует вредоносные сайт, вместо нее это сделал Google Chrome, вот такой прикол;
  • в диспетчере задач мной было обнаружено два процесса, возможно что со временем подтянется и третий, а то и четвертый, сколько их может быть я не знаю; но чтобы так судить, ну что могут быть еще, мне достаточно того что есть два процесса и что есть служба также;
  • программа работает на уровне перехвата TCP-пакетов, это похвально, это признак качественной работы; но вот только опять же, опасный сайт по мнению Гугла был проигнорирован программой; я думаю что вы понимаете, что это косяк проги;
  • прога мутит с настройками поисковика и домашней страницы; то есть при установке она предлагает сменить поисковик или домашнюю страницу, а при удалении есть галочки чтобы это все восстановить;
  • но не все так плохо, прогу сделала компания Lavasoft (Мальта), она полностью бесплатная, интерфейс программы (хотя его почти и нет) выполнен качественно, и позиционируется программа как дополнение к антивирусу; но как вы уже поняли, то эффективность ее или низкая или у нее свое понятие по поводу опасного сайта в отличии от Google Chrome;

Как удалить Ad-Aware Web Companion с компьютера полностью?

Ну, надеюсь что в удалении ничего сложного не будет. Удалить можно как виндовскими способами, так и при помощи . Это специальный удалятор, который умеет помимо удаления ПО также и оставшиеся следы удалять. В общем советую, но конечно решать вам, пользоваться или нет…

Ну а теперь посмотрим, как можно удалить встроенными функциями винды. Для этого нажимаем Пуск и выбираем там Панель управления:


Если у вас Виндовс 10, то отлично, но вот там этот пункт находится в меню, которое вызывается кнопками Win + X!

Потом находим значок Программы и компоненты, запускаем его:


Теперь в списке находим то, что нам нужно удалить, то есть Web Companion, нажимаем правой кнопкой по проге и выбираем там Удалить:


Потом появится такое окно, в нем я советую установить галочки, это чтобы были восстановлены поисковик и домашняя страница:


Как я понял, это будет восстановлено то, что было ДО установки проги. И хотя я выставил при установке, чтобы она мне ничего не меняла. Но на всякий случай галочки все таки поставил (но не нужно было этого делать, почему читайте далее)

В общем нажал я Удалить, пошел процесс:


В общем все удалилось нормально:


Но вот Менеджер браузеров сообщил, что вот какой косяк, в браузере Internet Explorer была изменена страница и что интересно, что с Google на Msn:


Зачем какой-то поисковик Msn — непонятно. Так что вот такие пироги. Я так думаю это потому что я поставил галочки при удалении, ну чтобы была восстановлена домашняя страница и поисковик. И вот из-за того, что при установке я указал что не нужно менять ни поисковик ни домашнюю страницу, а при удалении поставил галочки для их восстановления, то вот в итоге такой косяк и случился.

Все таки мне кажется, что я знаю тайный смысл этой проги. Наверно все дело в поисковике, она создана как бы не только для обнаружения вредоносных сайтов, но и еще для установки другого поисковика. Это для того, чтобы сделать другой поисковик более популярным, вот мне она предлагала то поставить Bing..

Yes. Because Ad-Aware Web Companion is not an antivirus product, it is compatible with all other antiviruses on the market.

Do I still need an antivirus if I use Ad-Aware Web Companion?

Even if Ad-Aware Web Companion protects you from visiting dangerous sites, it does not replace an antivirus. Ad-Aware Web Companion provides protection during your web experience, it does not monitor background processes nor does it analyze files on your computer or external drives.

I did not ask to Install Web Companion. How did it get on my PC?

Web Companion is most commonly distributed within another software product that you or someone who uses your PC has elected to install. This is known as "bundled software distribution" and is a practice widely used by software makers worldwide to make money while delivering free software to their end-users. Most software vendors simply don"t make enough money through paid licensing to continue their operations.

Lavasoft goes to great lengths to associate itself with only reputable software vendors, and also to ensure that the consent screen is clear and accurate. Despite these efforts, many users will inadvertently (due to no fault of their own) accept to install Web Companion and wonder how it ended up on their PC. Web Companion exists to protect users from this exact outcome, so we make sure the uninstallation process is as simple as possible and that any modifications of the configuration of the user"s PC are simple to revert.

The installation/update seems to be stuck, and is not progressing. What should I do?

Web Companion uses Microsoft"s MSI technology to install software on Windows PCs. One of the prerequisites for installing a product via MSI is that there is no other program currently being installed or uninstalled. It can often happen that another program is silently installing or uninstalling itself (e.g. Windows Updates) or that the locking system to protect against concurrent installs is stuck. In either case, Web Companion"s installer will appear to hang. When this happens, we recommend rebooting the PC to complete any ongoing installations and reset the state of the installation locking mechanism, and try again.

Web Companion did not uninstall the program that sets my homepage and search. What should I do?

Web Companion is effective at detecting the presence of a number of unwanted products that alter your search or homepage settings, and prompts you to remove the offending program. This process identifies and invokes the uninstaller at which point the user must follow the instructions presented by the program. These uninstallers intentionally ask you to select the components to uninstall. Failure to do so, does not uninstall the product. This is referred to as "opt-in" uninstallation, and is considered a somewhat malicious practice.

The Web Companion team is hard at work to resolve these problems using a number of mechanisms (which we cannot divulge since this would tip off the malware makers). Future versions of Web Companion will make this process smoother. In the interim, we recommend:
* Carefully read each uninstallation screen and follow instructions.
* Verify the installed browser extensions and remove any that are not recognized. Note: For Chrome, this can only be done within the browser, and not by an external program.

If that doesn"t work, we recommend reporting the problem to Lavasoft by sending us your feedback from within the Web Companion program via "Report a problem" and a snapshot of your system information (an option which will be clearly presented to you upon submission). For steps on how to do this, click .

Why does Web Companion keep telling me that my search engine or homepage has been modified?

Web Companion is periodically checking for changes to your homepage and search engine across all your installed browsers. It notifies you when it detects a difference between those settings and what is configured in Web Companion, and prompts you to accept the change or revert to what is set in Web Companion. It will do this 3 times before giving up.

If you accept the change, Web Companion"s settings will be set accordingly. If you revert, Web Companion will attempt to change your browser"s settings to what you have requested in the Web Companion UI. This action might fail for one of several reasons (eliciting another cycle of prompts):
* Web Companion does not detect a specific program installed on your PC that is changing your browser settings. New programs (and versions) are released all the time, so this can be quite common.
* Web Companion has detected the offending program, but the uninstallation process was unsuccessful. The program will still be present and will block changes to the settings.

The browser has recently implemented additional security measures to prevent external programs from tampering with the settings. These measures affect both malware and security programs such as Web Companion.

In all cases, we recommend that you report the situation to Lavasoft by sending us a snapshot of your system info (via the Web Companion UI) so that we can analyze the system and create a solution to the problem. Once resolved in house, we would roll it out to our user base in a subsequent product release or malware definition update.

Lavasoft is currently working on techniques to make this process stronger and easier to follow.

Why doesn"t Web Companion work with Chrome? The options in the Web Companion UI are disabled.

As of Chrome 34, Google has independently decided to prevent any program from changing the homepage and search settings. This unfortunately prevents security products like Web Companion from performing its function, namely protecting the user and offering a simple/unified user experience across all major browsers.

The Web Companion team is currently working on a solution that does not interfere with the Chrome application or process in a malicious or unsupported way. In the interim, Lavasoft recommends using Microsoft Internet Explorer which offers significantly better security and performance than Google Chrome. Does Web Companion work with Opera, Safari, Yandex, etc?

Web Companion is only compatible with Internet Explorer and Firefox. The Web Companion team is currently working on a solution that will be independent of the browser application, at which point support for virtually all versions of all browsers will be provided.

After installing Web Companion, my applications can"t access the internet. Why?

Web Companion installs proprietary security technology that can sometimes interfere with running programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Skype, or your web browser, preventing them from accessing the internet to perform their function.

The underlying technology is complex, and every system is different due to the variety of configurations and programs installed. It only takes a bug in one running program to elicit this issue.

Fortunately, the workaround in most cases is simply to restart all running applications or restart the PC.

My antivirus program is flagging Web Companion as malware (or a virus). Why?

Antivirus programs use a combination of sophisticated signatures and heuristics to assess whether or not a file is safe. Large teams of malware engineers build and update these detection databases and algorithms worldwide. The task is so daunting that competing antivirus vendors will share their detection databases with each other to increase protection.

If a file is deemed a risk, it"s "flagged" to the user and potentially removed automatically. If your antivirus has flagged one or more of Web Companion"s files, one of the following is likely the cause:
* False positive detection - The antivirus has accidentally (and incorrectly) flagged Web Companion. This often happens when one of Web Companion"s file signatures accidentally matches another file that has been flagged.
* Behavioural detection - The antivirus has detected a behaviour of Web Companion that it deems unsafe. Security products (like Web Companion) and malware often use similar techniques, so this can be a common occurrence.
* Policy detection - Some antivirus products will automatically flag any file provided by a specific company (which it can do easily from the code signing certificate used to identify executable files). Sometimes this policy is merited, while other times it"s used as a competitive tactic.

In all cases, the correct course of action is to notify Lavasoft of the incident, and we will press to have the flag removed as quickly as possible. (Lavasoft routinely monitors flags on its own products, but a few get through on occasion.)
